Do you know the role of carbon in tantalum?

Tantalum and carbon react directly at high temperatures to form carbides.

The addition of carbon to the tantalum increases the strength due to precipitation of carbides. For example,0.025% of carbon added into the Ta-W-Hf alloy, the creep strength is at the highest level when the temperature is 1350℃,when the carbon added below or above 0.025%,the creep strength

of the alloy is not high.
